The 2009 Overview

with the end of 2009 rapidly coming closer, I figured this might be a good opportunity to look back on the year that's almost over and see what's come out of it. All in all it's a great opportunity to look back on some of the fun times, awesome experiences and other hilights of the last 12 months.

Music

It was the year where, after a very long break, I started doing shows on Digitally Imported again with my bi-monthly Tech Rework show on DI's tech house channel.

What started out as a fun experiment in a genre I - in all honesty - wasn't too familiar with, quickly grew into a ton of fun with a steadily increasing listenerbase. The past 9 episodes of the show, which were also released as a podcast, generated well over a terabyte of traffic and thousands of downloads.

After a successful first video broadcast, with another two planned for early 2010, things are starting to get very interesting indeed!

The next year is sure to bring a ton of music production, even more shows, mixes and podcasts, and a bunch of awesome back2back sessions.

Nightlife

It was also the year of some rather excellent parties - ranging from an awesome Awakenings Festival, a surprisingly cool Tomorrowland in Belgium, to the usual list of Qlimax and Q-base.

Geek

On the geek front I finally got rid of my Windows laptop in favour of a lean mean Macbook. I still don't understand why I didn't do that ages ago. Server-side everything is still running Linux, apart from an unpleasant hack in March it's been smooth sailing all the way. Programming wise it's been a fun year as well, with an odd mix of ColdFusion and PHP.

Site design update

Finally got around to updating the layout and design for nilicule.com, the site that I use for all my music and DJ-related efforts.

Apart from being slightly more pleasing to the eye it should now be a bit easier to browse and download the various livesets, podcasts and mashups I've done over the years. Where available, you'll also find complete tracklistings for all shows on the site.

New livesets and podcasts will be added continuously, so be sure to check back often.

Comments, as always, are very welcome!

Selecting tracks for the next show

technics.jpgPreparing a killer list of tracks for a 2 hour radio show every couple of weeks is a hell of a lot of fun these days. So many quality tracks to choose from and equally as many roads to travel to keep the show just that little bit more different than the other tech house shows on Digitally Imported.

Pretty satisfied with the tracks I've got selected for the next show, which will be on the 14th of August. It'll be a nifty blend between house, techno and tech house, featuring both some proper classics as well as brand spanking new tracks.

Watch this space for some updates in the near future!

Posting to Drupal from TextMate

After a little bit of fiddling, I'm now able to post to Drupal from TextMate.

Initially I was getting a Blog API module is not configured to support the 1 content type, or you don't have sufficient permissions to post this type of content. error, but it seems that posting to /xmlrpc.php#blog solves that problem and lets Drupal correctly identify the type of post I am submitting.

Victory!
